Does Your Child Need Children’s Chiropractic Care?

Parents today are ready for a change in healthcare. Rising concerns about the adverse effects drugs have on their children are leading parents toward choosing healthier options. Children’s chiropractic care is one such option.

What Is Children’s Chiropractic Care?

Kids Chiropractic care is a safe, gentle, and effective way to help kids be at their very best. By looking at the body as a whole and addressing nutritional, physical, and emotional stressors, chiropractic helps kids reach their optimal health and foster a lifetime of healthy habits. As children experience their world through learning to crawl or walk, participating in sports, or starting school and carrying a backpack, their growing spines are subjected to tremendous amounts of stress. Many times, the spinal problems we see in adults can be traced back to a childhood fall, injury, or poor posture habits resulting from carrying backpacks or musical instruments or spending endless hours at a television or computer screen. The ICPA aims to study and train chiropractic care for children and pregnant women to produce chiropractors ready to help an underserved demographic of patients – establishing chiropractic care for the whole family so everyone can live their best healthy, happy lives.

Research Backing Children’s Chiropractic Care

ICPA provides a large database of children’s chiropractic research. In one Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice research titled The quality of life of children under chiropractic care as measured by PROMIS parent-proxy short forms, researchers find that the quality of life (QoL) of children receiving chiropractic care is still drastically higher than those not receiving value-based care. Further research was encouraged as findings on the benefits of children’s chiropractic care seemed promising and could be expanded into more niche studies.

Another study also aims to describe the chiropractic care success of a young teenager with low back pain, May-Thurner Syndrome, and Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome. The case found benefits in the spinal adjustments in the child without adverse events despite the conditions of previously noted syndromes.

Overall, there is great evidence and continuing research showing the benefits of children’s chiropractic care.
